The Lafayette Police Department conducted COVID-19 Business Compliance Checks throughout the city on Friday, said LPD Spokesman Sgt. Wayne Griffin.
The checks are to make sure Lafayette businesses are adhering to the Governor’s Emergency Order and Proclamations and Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory’s Safe Shop Guidance. Officers provided advice and solutions to business owners to assist them with coming into compliance or constructing a plan for the business. Officers found the majority of businesses in compliance, Sgt. Griffin explained.
Compliance checks will continue throughout the weekend and all of next week.
“It is still critical that we continue to practice social distancing during this public health emergency. This will help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community,” said Griffin.
The CDC is recommending that residents wear a face mask in public and continue to maintain social distancing whenever possible.
Mayor-President Guillory’s Safe Shop Guidance went into effect Thursday at midnight. Read more on the new guidanceHERE.
